Benefits of Using Steel
Steel is Cost Effective
Raw steel is relatively inexpensive. Manufacture and steel fabrication has become less and less labour intensive in recent years thanks to advances in the tools and technology that steel fabricators employ. These factors help reduce building costs. Steel is also easier and faster to transport and install, which saves building owners money. Most of the work is done off site which means the higher site costs are minimized.
Steel is Strong & Design Flexible
Steel is synonymous with strength and durability. As a raw material, it has an extremely high tensile strength and an excellent strength-to-weight ratio enabling it to span greater distances, therefore creating larger column free spaces. Steel is often displayed as an architectural feature, and can be textured and finished to suit elaborate architectural designs.
Steel is also non-combustible and does not rot like timber. Steel exposed to the elements can be galvanised or have a non-corrosive paint treatment so it does not rust, providing a long life span.
Steel is Sustainable
Steel offers a much more responsible building solution, as it is one of the most recycled materials in the world; it can be melted down, re-shaped and re-used an infinite times without losing its structural integrity.
Steel Is Versatile
Architects love working with steel because it is malleable, making it aesthetically versatile. It is customisable, enabling designers and fabricators to transform basic sections of steel into different shapes and sections.
